2013 NPSGs bring no new goals, but difficult patient safety challenges remain
On October 24, The Joint Commission released the new National Patient Safety Goals for 2013. The list includes no new goals; however, hospitals are still struggling over many goals, and NPSG.07.06.01-a goal that was new in 2012-requires hospitals to have fully implemented their evidence-based catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) prevention programs by January 2013.
