Joint Commission: 1,200 hospitals achieved Top Performer status

In its annual report, Joint Commission President and CEO Mark Chassin said 1,224 earned recognition in the accreditor’s Top Performer on Key Quality Measures program, up 11% from last year. In all, 36.9% of Joint Commission-accredited hospitals reporting accountability measure performance data for 2013 are Top Performer hospitals.
As of January 1, 2014, The Joint Commission increased the required number of selected core measure sets for which hospitals must submit data from four to six. The hospitals reporting performance data include general, children’s, psychiatric, surgical and cardiac specialty, and critical access hospitals.
