Joint Commission launches new SAFE CARE program
In connection to Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 4-10), The Joint Commission has launched a new program to encourage patients and their families to take a more active role in staying involved and informed in their care and the care of their loved ones. This program, called the 2012 SAFE CARE Patient Safety Education Program, is a free program intended to help patients stay educated in order to help prevent medical errors.
The program makes very interesting use of new technology. Participating facilities are provided with free posters about patient safety which have QR codes patients or family members can scan with their smartphones which will take them to an educational video online on the topic.
