Joint Commission looks into clinical alarm management

Much has been made of alarm fatigue and its impact on patient safety in the past year. Following that discussion further, The Joint Commission has announced that it is gathering information on clinical alarm management and seeks input from the field.
The accrediting body has said that options for helping to curb alarm fatigue could include Sentinel Event Alerts, accreditation requirements, and educational options. They are also currently conducting a survey on the topic, which can be found online here.
