Police: Teenager posed as doctor in Florida hospital for a month
A 17-year-old boy dressed in a white lab coat and face mask told police in West Palm Beach, Florida that he was a doctor at St. Mary’s Medical Center, the New York Daily News reports. Staff at an outpatient OB-GYN office called police after the real-life Doogie Howser showed up with a patient of the practice and introduced himself as “Dr. Robinson.”
Police say the teen was able to walk around the hospital for a month without staff or security officers noticing he was an imposter, the Daily News reports. Staff had seen the boy walk around the facility and be referred to as “doctor.” The hospital provided surveillance footage that showed the fake doctor walking through the facility but never entering a patient room, according to police.
Police are currently investigating the case. The boy’s mother told police he is under a physician’s care for an undisclosed condition but refuses to take his medication, according to the Daily News.
