As the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology commented in a statement, “The pandemic has highlighted the need to strengthen infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship programs through additional personnel, resources, and training. These investments will support standard infection prevention and patient safety efforts while ensuring the capacity to prepare for future pandemics across the spectrum of healthcare.
