Joint Commission targets Environment of Care improvements
Given the prevalence of Environment of Care (EC) standards appearing on this year's list of most cited standards, it should come as no surprise that The Joint Commission has focused its latest BoosterPak™ on this chapter. Interestingly, however, the three standards focused on in the booster are not among those on the most cited list. The three standards the booster looks at are EC.04.01.01, EC.04.01.03, and EC.04.01.05. These standards provide a framework for collecting information and monitoring the environment, identifying and analyzing issues with the environment, and lastly, improving the environment by addressing those issues. Overall, the booster is well designed and it is clear The Joint Commission has spent a great deal of time looking at this process.
