From the AHAP Blog: ISMP updates confusing drug name list
September 27, 2011
The Institute for Safe Medical Practices (ISMP) recently updated its “List of Confused Drug Names” document, a downloadable .pdf available on the organization’s site.
The Joint Commission recommends the ISMP list as a way to help comply with the accreditation body’s Medication Management (MM) chapter dealing with lookalike/soundalike drugs. The Joint Commission addresses lookalike/soundalike drugs in standard MM.01.02.01, EP 1.
The Joint Commission no longer maintains a list of lookalike/soundalike drugs of its own.
