CMS announces Health Care Innovation Awards
June 19, 2012
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the winners for the second and final batch of the Health Care Innovation Awards. CMS awarded 81 projects, including collaborations of hospitals, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and community-based organizations that will test new payment and care delivery models for Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program.
The $1 billion initiative announced last November is funded by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and is expected to save the healthcare system an estimated $1.9 billion over the next three years.
