Los Angeles hospital agrees to pay $700,000 in patient dumping case

Glendale (California) Adventist Medical Center has settled a patient dumping lawsuit by agreeing to pay $700,000 in civil penalties, the Los Angeles Times reports. Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer announced last week that the hospital also agreed to adopt new discharge policies in response to the lawsuit, which alleged that the hospital improperly transported homeless patients without their consent over the last four years.

Glendale Adventist admitted no wrongdoing in the case. Feuer filed similar lawsuits against two other hospitals in the area, with six-figure settlements reached in both cases, the Times reports.
