HHS awards $840 million in emergency preparedness grants

More than $840 million in emergency preparedness funding was awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to state and local public health and healthcare systems. The grants were distributed through the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) and the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) programs.
The programs provide resources to help local communities respond to infectious disease outbreaks, natural disasters, or chemical, biological, or radiological nuclear events. The awards include a total of $228.5 million for HPP and $611.75 million for PHEP.
