Report: Healthcare worker flu vaccination rate is still lacking
September 23, 2014
Three-quarters of healthcare workers received flu vaccinations during the 2013-2014 flu season, but that figure is still inadequate, according to a report published in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that overall vaccination coverage was 75.2%, consistent with rates for the previous two years.
Vaccinations among nurses improved year over year from 2012 to 2014, but vaccination rates were lower among nonclinical personnel (68.6%) and assistants/aides (57.7%).
