A day in the life of an accreditation professional

This month, we are focusing on Paula Brinn, BSN, MBA, CCRN-K, regulatory compliance manager at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. Brinn has been in this position for three years, two in her current position and one as a quality nurse specialist with the regulatory compliance team. Her background includes intensive care, critical care transport, and operational management.

When asked to describe her typical workday, Brinn says it might be easier to discuss a typical week. Things can change very quickly from one day to the next, so the job requires the ability to rapidly shift focus, she says. In addition, since some days involve multiple events occurring simultaneously, it can be difficult to pin down everything that's done in a single day.
