OSHA revamps healthcare violence prevention guidelines
April 7, 2015
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has updated its workplace violence prevention for healthcare workers, who are four times more likely to be injured as a result of violence than the average private sector worker. The agency’s Guidelines for Preventing Workplace Violence for Healthcare and Social Service Workers are designed to help facilities roll out measures to reduce or eliminate workplace violence hazards.
The guidelines say workplace violence prevention programs should include a worksite analysis, management buy-in, a program assessment, and training on health and safety.
